Volume 2, Issue 2, November 2002

Summer Tour

We left on our first tour on the morning of June 12 and arrived back home on August 7. We traveled 9502 miles and had 15 concerts. The last 2 weeks we were at the Stamps Baxter School of Music in Nashville, TN.

With Legacy 5 in Louisville, KY

One of the highlights of the tour was (July 7) getting to see Roger Bennett and Legacy 5 again in Louisville, KY.

Singing is not all we did though.

Some of the things we were able to do other than singing.

June 21 U.S.S. Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, Mobile, AL We did sing one song for some of the people touring the Battleship.

June 25 National Museum of Naval Aviation, Pensacola, FL We sang a song here also.

June 22,26 Spent two days at the beach in Pensacola, FL

July 4 Disney World.

Stamps Baxter School of Music

We were at the school from July 22 until August 2. We spent 4 hours each day in classes. Another 2 hours were for performance training and seminars and occasionally a concert by a visiting group. Some of those who visited the school were Allison Durham Speer, Premiers Quartet, Florida Boys, Anthony Burger, Mosie Lister and Bill Gaither.

Ben Speer owns the school and the Speers run it. A number of people that you may have seen on Bill Gaithers programs were instructors at the school. We enjoyed the opportunity to get to meet them. It makes watching a Gaither video a lot more interesting.

With Ben and Mrs. Speer

In our classes we learned how to sing using shape notes, worked on being able to hear a note and know what is was, and how to write 4 part harmony music.

We are looking forward to going back next year. This school would be very valuable to anyone involved with Christian music. If you or if you know of someone who might be interested, contact us and we can put you in touch with the appropriate people at the school.

The Beginning

We are in the process of putting together a video of our early years. It will contain video taken by our parents over the last nine years of us singing before we knew how to sing through the 2002 Rocky Mountain Quartet Convention. It even will include many embarrassing moments that we would like to forget, however, our parents think they are cute.

We hope to have "The Beginning" video available by the first part of next year.

The Early Days - Four part harmony - what's that?
